GMC has hit a Grand Slam home
run with the new 2020 GMC Sierra 1500. Thanks to a choice of two new engines
and more tech. These new power-plants
are the highlights of this handsome and rugged looking pickup from GMC.
Between the new 3.0-liter
inline-six Duramax diesel and the turbo 2.7-liter gas four, you have to
question why you need a V8 in this type of truck. Maybe it is just a question of what small
engine suits your needs. You will find
the answers to this “head scratching” thought with a visit with the friendly
folks at Hometown Chevrolet Buick GMC located at 2009 Barnes Street in
Reidsville, North Carolina or by calling the dealership at 336.634.0050 and
take your expectations for a drive in the new GMC Sierra 1500. Easy as that.
You will discover that for
your light duty stuff, the turbo four that delivers 310 horses and 348 lb-ft of
“get up and go” torque is plenty. Then
you have the new Duramax diesel that punches out 277 horses and an awesome 460
lb-ft of asphalt/dirt grabbing torque is maybe what you desire. All in all, this torquey six diesel is the
star of the show and the other great news is it doesn't sound like a “clacking”
diesel.
Another plus with this engine
that's under its muscular hood, the Sierra can tow over 9,000 lbs or haul over
1,800 pounds of payload performing like a champ. Have diesel, will tow. The Duramax is mated with a smooth shifting
10-speed transmission that steps down quickly when a downshift is needed. The integrated exhaust brake makes stopping
easier saving brake force. Like its heavy-duty cousin, the GMC Sierra 1500 has
six cameras that give the driver no fewer than 15 views around the truck and
the trailer. The best piece of tech is
GM's super-cool transparent trailer system, which stitches together the view
from the rear of your trailer and what is behind you. How cool is that?
Also, your Sierra 1500
features trailering apps both in the cab and on your phone to check tire
pressures and such. Also available is
the excellent tough carbon-fiber bed that can withstand lots of punishment and
it is not a bed-liner. Other useful
features for this year are adaptive cruise control, new multi-color heads up
display with an 8-inch infotainment screen, MultiPro tailgate, a slew of
standard safety features and more. An aggressive head turning macho model
called the Elevation with its black grille, much less chrome and 20-inch wheels
is also new. The 2020 GMC Sierra 1500
just covers all the bases from its efficient diesel to its unique tailgate option
with a myriad of models to choose from.
No better time than now to
check one out.
